MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Defenceman Trevor Carrick scored two goals, including the winner, and added an assist as the Mississauga Steelheads edged the visiting Sudbury Wolves 5-4 in overtime Sunday afternoon in Ontario Hockey League action.
Carrick took a pass from Bryson Cianfrone and buried the winning goal at 2:39 of extra time while on the power play.
Dylan Smoskowitz, Jesse Barwell and Cianfrone also scored for the Steelheads (3-1-0).
Nathan Pancel led the Wolves (1-1-2) offensively with two goals while Connor Crisp and Nicholas Baptiste scored the others.
Spencer Martin made 37 saves for the win as Franky Palazzese stopped 26-of-31 shots in defeat.
Mississauga went 2 for 4 on the power play while Sudbury failed to score on four chances with the man advantage.
Storm 6 Knights 3
GUELPH, Ont., — Justin Nichols stopped 37 shots, including 16 in the third period, as the Storm doubled up London.
Jason Dickinson, Ryan Horvat, Hunter Garlent, Zack Mitchell and Scott Kosmachuk each scored for Guelph (3-0-0) while Tyler Bertuzzi's goal stood up as the game winner.
Kyle Platzer, Chris Tierney and Brett Welychka scored for the Knights (2-1-0).
Jake Patterson took the loss after giving up six goals on 35 shots.
Whalers 3 Frontenacs 2 (SO)
KINGSTON, Ont., — Matt Mistele scored once in regulation and then the shootout winner as Plymouth edged the Frontenacs.
Bryce Yetman scored for the Whalers (2-3-0) while Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 42-of-44 shots, earning the game's first star.
Ryan Kujawinksi and Henri Ikonen scored for Kingston (3-0-1) as Matt Mahalak made 28 saves in defeat.
67's 3 IceDogs 2
OTTAWA, — Joseph Blandisi scored twice, including the go-ahead goal late in the third period, as the 67's slipped past Niagara.
Taylor Fielding also scored for Ottawa (2-2-0).
Anthony DiFruscia scored two goals for the IceDogs (0-3-1) and Carter Verhaeghe assisted on both.
Philippe Trudeau made 32 saves for the win as Brent Moran stopped 29 shots in a losing cause.
Battalion 5 Sting 2
SARNIA, Ont., — Nick Paul scored two goals as North Bay defeated the Sting.
Brett McKenzie had a goal and an assist apiece for the Battalion (3-2-0) while Barclay Goodrow and Blake Clarke each scored once.
Anthony DeAngelo supplied the scoring for Sarnia (1-2-0).
Rangers 5 Generals 3
OSHAWA, Ont. — Radek Faksa had a hat trick as Kitchener downed the Generals.
Max Iafrate and Curtis Meighan rounded out the offence for the Rangers (2-1-0).
Josh Sterk had a goal and two assists for Oshawa (2-2-0) while Chris Carlisle and Bradley Latour also scored.
Tyson Teichmann made 21 saves for the win. Daniel Althsuller took the loss after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Ken Appleby replaced Altshuller in the third period and stopped 4-of-5 shots in relief.
