The Last Chance tournament at the Westwood Tennis Club on the weekend attracted a number of provincially ranked players, but there were several locals in the mix right down to the end.
Ranjan McArthur (Victoria) defeated Al Folster (Campbell River) for the Men's "A" singles title. The ladies "A" singles event went to Karen Clarke (Victoria) over Holly Calvin (Nanaimo).
The men's "A" doubles was won by McArthur and Ron Josephson (Vancouver) over Nanaimo players Nick O'Callaghan and Greg Wall.
The ladies "A" doubles crown went to Calvin and Russian import Vera Butakova over Glenys Wall (Nanaimo) and Jean Martin (Shawnigan Lake).
The men's "B" singles title went to Jamie Wood (Campbell River) and Randy Happach (Parksville) was the runner up. The ladies "B" singles title went to Butakova who defeated Joan Wood (Campbell River).
The men's "B" doubles title was earned by Rick Rhodes (Nanaimo) and Gaeten Brousseau (Nanaimo) over Bob Hazeldine (Gabriola Island) and Kanji Kakizaki (Duncan). Darlene Dorman (Cedar) and Karen Martin (Nanaimo) defeated Kim Harris (Parksville) and Sandra Bradley (Ladysmith) for the ladies "B" doubles title.
The next Westwood tennis club tournament will be a mixed doubles event on the Remembrance Day weekend.
