The Nanaimo Clippers (9-8-0-1) stormed out early and held on for a win against the Island Divisionleading Powell River Kings (13-3-0-1) on Friday night.
The Clippers edged the Kings by a score of 4-3 in B.C. Hockey League action at Hap Parker Arena in Powell River.
Bo Brauer had two goals for the Clippers and the only multi-point effort of the night.
Also scoring were Jacob Hanlon and Korey Morgan. Assists were supplied by Mason Mitchell, Spencer Hewson, Sheldon Rempal, Nick Gushue and Edwin Hookensen who all had one.
Scoring for the Kings were Jarid Lukosevicius, Drew Dorantes and Jarryd Leung. The game-winning goal came from Brauer, his second, when he scored unassisted at the 6:39 mark in the second period. The
Clippers' final goal of the night put the team up 4-1 before the Kings clicked twice to push back. Dorantes scored on the powerplay at 14:40 in the second and Leung had the lone goal of the third period.
The two play again today (Saturday) at Hap Parker Arena. The puck drops at 5 p.m.
