The Nanaimo Buccaneers lost for just the second time this season in Victoria on Wednesday night, losing 2-1 to the Westshore Wolves.
The loss drops the Bucs to 11-2-0-0 in their second campaign in the Vancouver Island Junior B Hockey League.
Kyle Peterson and Clay Carson scored for the Wolves and Matt Chester made 25 saves for the win. David Osborne scored the lone goal for the Buccaneers and Alex Mastrodonato made 26 saves in the loss.
All the scoring was done in the second period as Peterson broke the 0-0 deadlock at 7:15. Osborne tied it up with a short-handed goal at 13:13 and Carson scored the winner at 16:24.
The loss takes some of the lustre off of tonight's marquee between red-hot first place teams, as the Buccaneers, No. 1 in the North Division, host the Victoria Cougars, No. 1 in the South Division at 7:15 p.m. at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
