RICHMOND, B.C. - The Vancouver-area RCMP are crediting a quick-thinking passerby for thwarting a kidnapping.
A news release says police were called in Richmond by a member of the public who saw what he believed was a kidnapping in progress.
The person reported seeing four suspicious-looking men approach another man, put his son into a vehicle and handcuff the man.
RCMP officers caught up with the vehicle and arrested two men for kidnapping, and they also found a handgun.
The news release says investigators believed the incident was targeted, but they don't believe it was related to gangs.
Several charges including kidnapping and forcible confinement with a firearm have been laid against 27-year-old Donald Ryan Stalker of Richmond and 19-year-old Raymong Truong of Burnaby, while the police are still looking for two other suspects.
