HALIFAX - Elections Nova Scotia says a polling firm hired by the NDP to survey voters accidentally provided the wrong names of candidates in three ridings and didn't intend to mislead voters.
Richard Temporale, chief electoral officer, said in a news release Friday that he believed the errors resulted from "simple mistakes."
Elections Nova Scotia said it received reports of calls to residents in three ridings from Forum Research.
The errors involved calls to 49 voters in Truro-Bible Hill-Millbrook-Salmon River, 50 in Kings North and 50 in Timberlea-Prospect.
Temporale said the NDP has called the residences to correct the information.
A spokesman for the party said earlier this week that party officials mistakenly provided the polling company with some of the wrong names based on an older list of potential candidates.
