Vancouver Island University has proclaimed its own "VIU Day of Truth and Reconciliation" on Friday in support of B.C.'s Reconciliation Week for residential school survivors.
A film called Muffins for Granny examining personal experiences of residential school survivors will be screened at the Shq'apthut Gathering Place building at 11 a.m. followed by lunch and a walk for reconciliation. Everyone is invited to attend, and similar events will be held at the Cowichan and Powell River campuses. For information, VIU Aboriginal education director Sharon Hobenshield can be reached at
