Three Nanaimo businesses are teaming up to create the city's first co-working space downtown.
Innovation Island, the Painted Turtle Guesthouse and Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation have been planning the project since June and are starting to gather feedback on their plan.
The design and layout of the space will be revealed at a "think tank" session at the Nanaimo Art Gallery Friday afternoon, where planners also hope to receive community input.
Paris Gaudet of Innovation Island said the space will be a modern, collaborative office environment geared towards those working in innovative business fields such as design, web development, coding and programming.
"There are some crazy amazing people in our community but people don't know about it. They don't' see it."
The name and cost to rent a desk in the space have yet to be finalized.
