Local businesses, from car dealerships to florists, will gather at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre for the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce's sixth annual Business Expo, to be held on Oct. 24.
This year's event, called "Nanaimo Partners in Prosperity," is expected to showcase approximately 80 exhibitors who will take advantage of the Expo to celebrate the success of their local businesses and showcase their companies to the community.
It's the first year that the Business Expo will be held at the VICC.
Andrea Rosato-Taylor is the sales manager at the Nanaimo Daily News, one of the media sponsors for the event.
She said the Business Expo also provides opportunities for participants to network with other members of the local business community.
"It's a venue in which chamber members and others can meet and greet each other and learn about each others businesses," she said.
"The event has been very successful over the past five years and we expect a great Expo this year as well."
Jim Chapotelle, from Charvar Networks, attended last year's Expo and said it was huge success.
"It was our first time hosting a booth at the Business Expo and we had a very successful experience," he said.
"The Expo definitely exceeded our expectations and we decided we would certainly return."
Event organizer Renee Bohun said the GNCC is "excited" to be hosting the event again this year and encouraged all participants, particularly firsttime exhibitors, to contact the chamber office if they have any questions.
Bohum said setup times are from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 and from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 24, with the Expo starting at 1 p.m. on that day.
She said admission to the Expo is free to the public.
