A 47-year-old Lantzville man has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a Nanaimo car crash last week.
A statement from Nanaimo RCMP on Thursday said the man died in hospital on Wednesday.
"The Nanaimo RCMP traffic section are continuing the investigation into the collision," police said. "At this time it is unknown if charges under the Criminal Code or Motor Vehicle Act will be laid against the driver of (the) 2008 Mercedes Benz who crossed over the centre line and struck a 1991 Chev Astro Van."
According to RCMP, the man was struck by two vehicles at approximately 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 and was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital. As of Oct. 17 he was being treated in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit.
Police said the 64-year-old man driving an SUV appeared to have swerved into oncoming traffic near the Jingle Pot Road and Calder Road intersection and collided head-on with a van.
