Hall holds opening
After over 20 years of work, the North Oyster Community Hall held its grand opening on Sept. 8 to admirers. Congrats to all the members. The hall represents the huge effort of volunteers and community support that went into saving the old North Oyster Elementary School from demolition.
When the new North Oyster School was built on its site, the old school was relocated across the street and turned into a public place. With the school closures being proposed, North Oyster is on the list - one wonders if the volunteers are up to saving another school?
Terry Fox Run
Get your runners on and join in the Terry Fox Run. Registration starts at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Frank Jameson Community Centre. If you don't want to run but would still like to help out at the event, call Anita McLeod at 250-245-6427.
Time to get down
On Monday, the Ladysmith Sportsman Pub will be rocking to Roadstar. Get out and support live music.
Get into the swing
Cottonwood Golf Course is offering a sweet deal. Burger and a beer, 18 holes and a cart for 50 bucks Sundays and Monday after 2 p.m.

Good fish and chips
When people talk about food - we pay attention. And word on the street is that fish and chip fans are heading to the Cook House. The low-key food truck is parked by Wash Me on Ludlow and pre-orders are recommended.
Paddle your way to the end of the season clearance at Sealegs Kayaking Adventures. This is the time to get into the world of kayaking or try renting one from Bud and Sheryll Bell. Looking to just get out on the water? Contact the Ladysmith Maritime Society and check out their harbor boat tour. By donation and a lot of fun.

North Oyster can look for a new recycling tote delivered to their door.
Once you receive the tote, look inside and you will find an information package with a new collection schedule, a tote user guide.
If, after reviewing the information, you have any questions call the CVRD Recycling Hotline at 1-800-665-3955 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The new service will come into effect in the electoral areas during the week of Sept. 23.
