With finely crafted routines and songs, Foote is one of North America's most highly regarded entertainer's of his kind.
Foot's accolades include SOCAN's Best Songwriter Award, U.S. Parents' Choice Gold Awards and most recently, a Juno for his CD Love my new Shirt.
He has written and recorded songs for Disney Records, Shari Lewis, CBC, Max and Ruby musical and has performed and worked with millions of children throughout North America, inspiring creativity through his songs, stories and innovative props.
Foote, born Norman Mervyn Barrington-Foote claims his name forced him to develop a sense of humour at an early age.
At age 11, Foote's parents gave him his first guitar, a finely crafted instrument from the Sears Catalogue. This set the stage for a lifelong dream.
With idols including The Beatles, Hank Williams and Elvis, it wasn't long before Foote switched to electric guitar and performed with garage bands during his high school years.
When Foote was 20, he left his home in Vancouver to explore Australia and New Zealand, and made his living as a street performer and songster.
Foote first developed an interest in puppetry and physical comedy through his association with a traveling theatre troupe in New South Wales, Australia.
Still hooked on music but enthralled with the art of puppetry and comedy, Foote chose the only feasible solution - to combine all three.
He has had the pleasure of performing with symphonies, festivals and in concert halls throughout North America including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony, London Symphony, Montreal comedy festival Just For Laughs, Galway Festival in Ireland, and countless others.
Tickets are $14 and are available at the Port Theatre box office or by calling 250-754-8550.
