SAINTE-JULIE, Que. - Beachwear retailer Groupe Bikini Village Inc. (TSX:GBV) says Yves Simard is stepping aside as the company's president and chief executive officer.
No reason was given for the departure of Simard, who joined the company in 2006.
Company comptroller Chantal Letourneau will handle his duties while a replacement is being sought.
"The board will be working closely with Ms. Letourneau during this transition period," chairman Scott Leckie, said in a release.
"Her commitment and dedication to the corporation for more than 20 years will help in the management transition."
Quebec-based Bikini Village, which employs approximately 450 people at 55 stores in Eastern Canada, reported back in June a sharply higher loss for the first quarter, partly due to what it called "challenging retail conditions" and partly to a one-week delay in the start of the quarter.
