CAMBRIDGE, Ont. - Space technology company Com Dev International Ltd. (TSX:CDV) has received its largest commercial award ever, a contract "in excess of $65 million" to supply components for a network of global communications satellite.
The Cambridge, Ont.,-based company announced Thursday that it will supply C, Ku-band and Ka-band multiplexers, switches and microwave components for a number of satellites that will be part of the satellite network.
Com Dev says initial funding release, in excess of $38 million, will cover procurement as well as engineering and manufacturing activities for the first satellite to be delivered.
It says the work, expected to last until 2018, will be carried out at the company's facilities in Cambridge and in El Segundo, Calif.
Com Dev, with a staff of 1,300 and facilities in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, and annual revenue of more than $200 million, is a leading global provider of space hardware and services. It designs, manufactures and integrates advanced products, subsystems and microsatellites that are sold to major satellite prime contractors, government agencies and satellite operators, for use in communications, space science, remote sensing and defence applications.
