The Kindle edition of Nanaimo author Lorelie Rozzano's first novel will go on sale for 99 cents on Amazon today.
Rozzano, a recovering alcoholic and addictions counsellor at Edgewood, said she wants to start an honest conversation about addiction, despite the fact that not everyone can afford treatment.
"If anyone's ever wondered about addiction, this is a pretty safe way to look," she said.
"I think there's going to be a lot of people that relate to it."
Rozzano is currently in the process of editing the sequel to Jagged Little Edges called Jagged Little Lies, which she hopes will be out before Christmas.
"It's going to show that the family members and really significant friends get every bit as impaired as the addict or alcoholic," she said.
"In order to stay in a relationship with addiction, you have to make some adjustments."
She is starting a third book, as well, which will be about "hope, freedom and recovery."
"I went into treatment at Edgewood where I work now, in 1997. Nothing has been the same ever since," she said.
"I knew the tragedy of addiction, I didn't know the hope of recovery."
Rozzano previously released a children's book called Gracie's Secret, geared toward children in difficult situations.
