One of our family favourite spots is 4Cats Arts Studio at 1-7221 Lantzville Rd. This place is magic in technicolour. 4Cats is a professional art studio for ages two and up. Yes, they have adult classes, too. My daughters have taken classes there for years - I need more walls in my house to hold their grand creations.
My kids have studied Emily Carr, Andy Warhol, Picasso, Gustav Klimt, Frida Kahlo and many others and loved it all.
Tara Gray, is the Artist/Curator/Owner at 4Cats Arts Studio. She has owned the studio in Lantzville for four years and has worked with 4Cats for seven years. Her cocurators, are Kat and Lana Banana - they all have degrees in Visual Art and have experience working with artists of all ages.
They are fun, creative and wonderful artists and have so much knowledge and enthusiasm share.
Tara loves art and teaching it to people of all ages. She says, "Art teaches us to be brave, self-aware, and imaginative. It nourishes us in every aspect of our lives.
"It teaches us to question and be inquisitive. It builds our self esteem and connects us to others.
"Most importantly, it helps to let the magic in."
If you've never been to the studio, or you'd like to see what fantastic new things they've got coming up, stop by the studio on Oct. 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. for their best, most fun Halloween party ever and bring a friend. They'll have treats, prize draws and art, of course.
4Cats does individual classes, group classes, events, birthday parties (I really want to do a splatter paint party for my next birthday) and they now offer a team building program.
Creating a masterpiece together is a great way to bond and strengthen your team.
Everyone contributes their own unique artistic touches to create a memory to beautify a workspace. It inspires teamwork.
From van Gogh inspired painting to Jackson Pollock paint throwing, they've got something for everyone and everyone loves a 4Cats party.
I know many people will want to know why it is called 4Cats.
The name is inspired by the 4Cats Cafe in Barcelona, Spain, where Picasso went with artist, poet and philosopher friends to talk about art, life and make and show great art.
